About this speaker
Amir Freimann (1958, Israel) is researching spirituality from both a personal and academic perspective. He spent 25 years in a Zen monastery in Japan and a small spiritual community in the US. He is the author of Spiritual Transmission: Paradoxes and Dilemmas on the Spiritual Path based on interviews with a hundred spiritual teachers and students.
Amir is currently a doctoral student at the University of Haifa, writing Living Transcendence: A Phenomenological Study of Spiritual Exemplars based on interviews he did with a few dozen spiritual teachers/masters of different traditions around the globe. His postdoctoral research will focus on the experience and cultivation of love in the lives of spiritual masters, and he intends to co-create a documentary film on this subject.
